Official announcements are posted in the local a2i.announce
newsgroup
and cross-posted into the local a2i.info
newsgroup. Follow-up questions
from users, their answers, and related discussion, will be found in
a2i.info
but not in a2i.announce
. The a2i.announce
and a2i.info
newsgroups may be accessed via a number of methods described below.
Information about significant changes in our services is made available via these official announcements.
General discussions may be found in the a2i.general
newsgroup.
Point your web browser to http://forum.rahul.net/ and follow the
instructions in the Notices section to become a registered user of the
forums. Follow-up questions may be posted into the a2i.info
forum.
While connected to the Internet, simply point your nntp client to
news.rahul.net (see the NNTP ACCESS section below) and access the
relevant newsgroups. (You may post follow-up questions to a2i.info
.)
To get announcements by email as they are issued, you will need to
subscribe to the a2i-announce
or a2i-info
mailing list. This can
be done by pointing your web browser to one of the links below.
After you subscribe to a mailing list, you will be
able to view its archives of old postings with a web browser. Follow-up
questions cannot be sent to these mailing lists by email, but they may
be submitted by the other methods described in this document.
If logged into the Linux shell on the Classic Linux servers, use nn, tin, or trn to access the relevant newsgroups, or type the command 'a2inews' at the shell prompt to read only the official announcements (but not follow-up discussion) in reverse chronological order.
General discussions among users may be found in the a2i.general
newsgroup. This newsgroup is gatewayed to a corresponding mailing list
called a2i-general
and a corresponding forum called a2i.general
. Use any
of the methods described above to access these.
To access news.rahul.net
via nntp from the global Internet, point your
web browser to https://userinfo.rahul.net/, log in with your usual
login name and password, and then follow the 'Auxiliary Password for
NNTP and Web Proxy' link. This will generate the needed login
information for you. You can now use this for nntp access to
news.rahul.net
. (If you are unable to log into the above URL, please
contact support@rahul.net and ask us to enable your access to
https://userinfo.rahul.net/—there is no charge for this.)
